Word of the Day, February 25, 2019

“ Praise ye the Father for His loving kindness, tenderly caring for His erring children; praise Him ye angles; praise Him in the heavens; praise to the Saviour.”

James 3:16:

16 For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.

Are you jealous or envious of what other people have? Their car, house, traveling, job, perfect wife and kids, own their own business and can make their own hours while you work for a boss that is rotten, have more money than you, is a leader and you are not, have more friends, nicer clothes, have a bigger boat, a better job, healthier, more tools than you, spends more time fishing or golfing than you or more time shopping than you. Sounds kind of silly right?

Envy and jealousy will destroy you. Solomon writes this in Proverbs 14:30: 30 A sound heart is the life of the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the bones.

Proverbs 3:31: 31 Envy thou not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways.

Proverbs 27:4: 4 Wrath is cruel, and anger is outrageous; but who is able to stand before envy?

Psalm 10:3: 3 For the wicked boasteth of his heart's desire, and blesseth the covetous, whom the LORD abhorreth.

Ecclesiastes 9:5-6: 5 For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. 6 Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun.

Job 5:2: 2 For wrath killeth the foolish man, and envy slayeth the silly one.

Galatians 5:19-21: 19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

Genesis 4:3-5: 3 And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD. 4 And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering: 5 But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.

Galatians 5:26: 26 Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

If this is not clear enough from the Word of GOD, not sure what else can be said. Be happy with what you have. So many have far less. We all have different strength, gifts, abilities and talents that are from our Creator. Feel blessed with what GOD has provided and know this, there are far more many people that have less than you and many that have more than you and the question I ask this morning is do we really need more? Will all the stuff, money or roles in life that has caused us to envy or be jealous going to make us truly happier? Trust me, people with more are not always happier than people with less. Thank our Father GOD for what He has provided for you and your family each and every new day!

“ Praise God, from Whom all blessings flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below; Praise Him above, ye heav’nly host; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.”
