Is a 17 IMR to much for coons?

Is this enought to take a coon, or somthing smaller?

17HMR is not over kill for Coon it may just right I have not tried a 17HMR on a Coon but I know its not a good one for a heart shot on coyote using 17gr 17HMR. My freind shot two both shot at 45-60 yards and both almost got away we where lucky to hit them a second time one with 22mag the other nail by a 223 at 150-200yds. The 17Hmr made shallow holes not enough damage to stop a coyote.
So for Coons head may be the best shot on them and also use the heavier ammo 20gr if you go for the heart. They work great on ever thing smaller then a coon.
