Will Nosler Petition bullet expand if it goes through an animal without striking a bone?

yes...but a double lung or rib shot on a deer sized animal has less than stellar performance...very large deer or possibly Elk is really what they are made for...but let SW get on that on...t :???:

There have been numerous bullets come along since that first Partition was made. Many of those bullets were meant to make the PT obsolete. Although that hasn't happened, some of the new bullets work really well.

While there are older hunters using nothing but PT's for all of the game they pursue, regular soft-point quick-expanding bullets still work better on deer than the various "penetrators", of which the PT is one. Yes, a PT will expand whether hitting bone or not, but they will likely have the nose sheared off after hitting bone. Then, the rear "piston" like shank will still punch out the off side of the critter. That smaller size exit hole is what often gives the PT a bad rap for "not expanding".

The PT and Barnes X's share the same opinion, folks either love them or hate them.
