Colorado Prairie Dog hunting ban KILLED!!!

Postby Bubba » Mon May 05, 2008 6:10 pm

The Wildlife Commission killed a petition to ban prairie dog hunting with a 9-0 vote. The petition was made by a group called the Forest Guardians claiming that prairie dog hunting is not actually hunting, but animal cruelty. All of you Colorado boys, you may expect to see this on the general ballot in November as they are trying to get this to a public vote now that the petition was shot down.

Hooray for Col! We had a similar ban attempt against dove hunting here in SD years ago. It was defeated on the ballot, but not by that large of a margin.

We all need to remember one thing. There are more people that DON'T HUNT than people that hunt. Once you fully realize that fact, a determined group of well-funded anti-hunters can wreak a lot of havoc on one of our favorite pastimes. The state GF&P Dept's. know that hunters pay their salaries, so they will fight these ban attempts. However, we are still in the minority when it comes to votes.
