To Howl, Or Not To Howl

That is the question! How many of you have success using a howl when coyote hunting?

My success with a howl has been very limited, and it seems to me that I get better response when I stick with a dinner bell (distress). When I do use a howl, the coyotes always approach with caution and most of the time, will not show themselves for a shot.

Savagehunter, like you I haven't used a howler often, but some guy's use them successfully as a "locator". Maybe it saves time calling from a location where no coyotes are to be had?
